Vishal Pallagani

Vishal is currently a Ph.D. student in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of South Carolina. He is a part of the Artificial Intelligence Institute of UofSC (AIISC) research lab. Vishal is jointly mentored by Dr. Biplav Srivastava and Dr. Amit Sheth. He received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 2020 at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Naya Raipur in India.

Vishal's research interests lie in the intersection of Natural Language Processing and Automated Planning. In his previous internship at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, New York, he worked with an interdisciplinary team on creating Plansformer, a large language model capable of generating valid and cost-optimal symbolic plans. He is also interested in human cognitive theories and understanding their relevance in Computer Science research.
